Some years ago the manufacturers of the Holden rope seal where forced to remove the asbestosis component from the rear main seal. This made the RMS useless and if you got a months use from them, your lucky. With the guidance of the Fel-Pro engineers in America a system was developed to modify the Felpro Buick seal to suit the Holden rope seal V8 block as well as the Holden 6 cylinder blocks with rope seals. They have been making these for over 5 years and sold hundreds if not thousands of seals with no issues. The seals are precision machined and work better than the original.
NO MODIFICATIONS are required to the block however the removal of knurling on the crank area is recommended. Not everyone chooses to do this however in doing so will give you the longest life for the seal. We highly recommend you get this done by your local automotive machining shop.
The kit you will receive comes with detailed instructions to allow for easy fitment.
To our knowledge this is the only viable option available for the Holden V8 253/308 and inline 6 cylinder 161-173-179-186 & 202 engines with rope seal blocks.
